Would just have liked to hear back from somebody who actually upgraded this model Dell. I am just not 100 SURE if that is true or accurate.

6 USB, gigabit Ethernet, 4 RAM slots, etc. Instead of Windows 10 I wanted to upgrade them now to 8.1 so they can have security updates until Win 8 end of life in 2023 but it seems Dell says that model PC can not be upgradd to 8.1. It's not as amazing as its UD3P brethen but it looks like a solid motherboard with good reviews. but the cheapest I can find it on the Internet is like $200 because it is deactivated. That's the motherboard I used to use before I switched to AMD (2 years ago) and it has rave reviews ( - "P45 at its Finest"), etc. Dell no longer ships operating system disks with new systems. A recovery disk is also known as a restore disc, repair disc, boot disc or rescue disk.

Looking through Amazon now, they have a better stock usually (from non-Amazon stores selling through Amazon). This is a guide about Dell recovery disks for the following versions of Windows: Windows XP, Windows Vista, Windows 7 or Windows 8. The X48s are high-performance (used to be enthusiasts' boards), but they were priced accordingly and will likely be difficult to find. but -honestly- you're probably only going to see a 2-4% difference on a LGA775 socket anyway. What you're looking for is a P45 board or an X48 board. I'm looking through the list of LGA 775 boards on Newegg and almost all of them are deactivated. The Sniper looks to be roughly the same as the Ripjaws with a lower profile heat spreader. On another note, does anyone have experience with the G.skill Snipers? I'm curious what the difference is between the Sniper and the Ripjaws. I can't think of any other issues I could have. She has a GTS 250 1GB ( PSU) in her computer now, which should work in the new mobo (although, am I hurting anything with it being in a PCI-e 1.0 x16 slot? Or does the card not actually need the speed from PCI-e 2.0 x16?) The RAM appears compatible to me. My question is whether I'll have any compatibility issues. I'm interested in that mobo in particular because I'd like to get DDR3 DIMMs. I can't find many HIGHLY rated LGA 775 boards, so I thought maybe the MMO-C community might have had some experience with one. I've seen a few people in various forums say that they've got 8GB in theirs and it is running no problem, but I am skeptical.

I know Dell mobos are picky, and it turns out it can only support 4GB (and I'm almost certain only Dell RAM which is 8 times more expensive than the RAM I want). I have the Win10 Pro Insider Preview on a Dell OptiPlex 755, only problem several versions back was not having video drivers for the onboard Intel adapter, used an Add-in ATI Radeon 2400 HD card by Sapphire and no problems with that but I have the same issue in a Dell Inspiron 530S running IP. It's got the 4GB it came with, so I'm looking at probably an upgrade to 8GB. Right now, the upgrade I'd like to make is to the RAM.
We've already upgraded the PSU so that we could upgrade the GPU. It's got an Intel Core 2 Duo E7300 (LGA 775). I'm looking into various options for upgrading my wife's Inspiron 530.
