#MODS IN DESTINY 2 MOD#
There are four mod sockets on each Ghost Shell: Experience, Tracking, Economic, and Activity. Like armor, Ghost Shells can be upgraded, which increases their energy capacity and allows to socket mods, but without elemental affinity. Starting from Year 4 Ghost Shells lost their perks in exchange for mod sockets.

It can be installed only into a designated socket in a Solar type Helmet which has at least 3 free charges. For example, Ashes to Assets is a Solar Helmet Armor Mod with an energy cost of 3. Each armor mod has an energy cost, which displays how much of an armor's charge this mod will take. Year 3 armor's Combat Style socket is replaced with Legacy, which accepts the same mods, as well as Nightmare Hunt, Last Wish and Garden of Salvation mods.Īrmor pieces also have a certain energy charge value, which can be increased by Masterworking them. Raid armor has an additional socket for mods from that raid only. General and Combat Style Armor Mods can be slotted into a designated slot on any piece of armor, other types can be inserted only in designated slots on the specified armor piece. Armor mods are divided into 7 types: General, Head, Arms, Chest, Legs, Class Item and Combat Style. Each armor piece has an elemental type that determines which armor mods can be installed into it. Year 3 introduced massive changes to armor, mods included. Year 4 brought Adept mods, which can be used only on Adept weapons obtained by going Flawless in the Trials of Osiris or by completing Grandmaster Nightfall: The Ordeal. Now, these mods slightly alter the weapon's performance, like Backup Mag, which increases a gun's magazine, or Icarus Grip, which improves accuracy while airborne. Previously, those were used to determine the type of damage done by the weapon: Kinetic, Arc, Solar or Void. Year 2 introduced a change to Weapon Mods.

Armor mods are mostly Common, with the exception of seasonal ones. Following the Destiny 2 armor 2.0 update that landed with Shadowkeep in 2019, mods got an overhaul and stats-based Guardian protection returned in a big way. Multiple mods can be installed into a piece of armor, a single mod can be installed into a weapon, but some items do not support mods at all.Īll weapon mods and seasonal mods are Legendary. The player does not spend any mods when they are installed, but slotting a mod or swapping it with another one costs Glimmer. Don’t miss out, and get all of those mods. It’s the best way to add progress to your character, Season Pass, and Artifact. I always stock up on as many bounties as I can carry before jumping into a playlist. It’s also worth noting that you’ll get additional XP gains from completing quests and bounties. We hope that this clears up any confusion you might have for this season. If you reset the Artifact, then you can choose new mods and fill it up all over again.
Eventually, you’ll have filled out the Artifact with mods. As you unlock and equip them, more slots will open up. The more XP you gain, the more Artifact Mods you’ll unlock. All you need to do is play the game and you’ll unlock all the mods you need. When you gain XP towards your character and Season Pass, you gain it towards your Seasonal Artifact as well. You unlock Artifact Mods though any activity in Destiny 2. They pop at random times, and sometimes you don’t even know you’ve unlocked one until you check your inventory. It’s not clear for some Guardians, particularly those new to the game, how you unlock these Artifact Mods. That’s why we’re putting this guide together. One of them for the third week is to pick up all an Artifact Mod for every slot in the Artifact this season.
With Season of the Chosen, Bungie has added Seasonal Challenges. Once you’ve got it, you’ll have Artifact Mods to unlock. You really can’t miss it, unless you actively ignore all of the new content in a season. The way that seasons work now, you’ll get the Seasonal Artifact as part of the opening quests.
